Bob Swanson Puts on a Clinic!

Bob Swanson wins his first tournament of the year at Willow Springs Lake, Aug. 19th 2001, beating 2nd place Television host Johnny Johnson by over 6 lbs, weighing in 3 fish at 8.44 lbs. of bass. Like I said last month, Bob has always put the "what if ?" in Johnny's effort to take the Angler of the Year award. Bob has been running in 2nd place (Angler of the Year) all year long except for one brief dip down to 3rd place after a bad day at the first tournament at Willow Springs on July 1st, where interestingly enough, Johnny took 1st place with 8 lbs. of bass. Bob has closed the gap on Johnny, but with just one tournament left, it's not likely that anyone will catch Johnny this year. But, what if ??.......

Bob Swanson also took home both the 1st & 2nd Big Fish awards, weighing 4.20 lbs. & 2.98 lbs. A fantastic job, considering that the fishing was extremely slow all day, with only three teams bringing in fish.
Johnny Johnson & Reese Simpson
Second place went to Johnny Johnson and amateur partner Reese Simpson, weighing in at 2.11 lbs. Johnny still holds a sizable lead in the race for Angler of the Year and Reese has moved up to 2nd place in the Amateur division, nudging out a small but important lead over Kenny Donaldson and Dino Felkins.

2nd Place
Third Place went to Stan Culling & amateur Bill Cook, bringing 1.77 lbs. of bass to the scales. Stan currently holds 4th place over-all and has a good chance at making the championship tournament at the end of the season. Only the top five anglers in each division will go.
