Can you say... "THREE-PEAT"?

Angler of the Year

Johnny Johnson Angler of the Year

Congrats to television host Johnny Johnson on winning the 2003 Angler of the Year award!

The name of the game is CONSISTENCY!

This is the third year in a row that Johnny has taken home the most coveted award of all, stacking up 149.26 total points in the 2003 season, garnering one 1st place, two 2nd place and one 3rd place finish for the year. Johnny also had one 2nd Big Fish award. Johnny might have ended up with another 1st place win at Rainbow Lake if he had not inadvertently hit the power switch for his livewell, turning the aerator off, and killing an entire limit of bass. But, that's part of the sport, and you have to play by the rules which deduct points for dead fish. Despite what Johnny deems as a major disappointment in that tournament, he went on to have a fine year none the less!

Johnny's Stats:

2001: 4 first place, 2 second place, 2 big fish, 2 2nd Big Fish *Angler of the Year*

2002: 2 first place, 1 second place, 4 thirds , 1 Big Fish, 1 2nd Big Fish *Angler of the Year*

2003: 1 first place, 2 second place, 1 third, 1 2nd Big Fish *Angler of the Year*

Amateur Angler of the Year

Nathun Korney Am. Angler of the Year

Congratulations to Nathun Korney on his "TWO-PEAT" for Angler of the Year in the amateur division!

That's right, Nathun has been with the club for two years and has managed the award handily in both. It may be time for Nathun to make the jump to the Pro Division. We'll see what happens next year!

Nathun's Stats:

2002: 3 firsts, 1 second, 3 thirds, 1 Fig Fish *Amateur Angler of the Year*

2003: 2 firsts, 1 second, 2 thirds, 2 second Fig Fish *Amateur Angler of the Year*

Horne Auto Battle of the Champions

2003 Championship Tournament Results

Doug Coplan Comes out on Top

Fighting a fall turnover, the bite at Fool Hollow Lake was tough both days, with anglers fighting the mental exhaustion and humbling hours of very poor fishing. In the end, it took only five fish to win the bonus Horne Auto Battle of the Champions Tournament. Perseverance was the name of the game.

Doug Coplan 1st Place

1st place went to Pro Doug Coplan with 7.39 lbs., including Big Fish at 2.58 lbs.

Doug managed a 1st place win at Fool Hollow Lake Aug. 3rd with a total of 13.14 lbs. Good Job!

Stan Culling 2nd Place

2nd place went to Pro Stan Culling, bringing in 6.47 lbs. Stan managed to win a couple of tournaments this year but couldn't quite keep up with Johnny Johnson in the points race, earning him 2nd place for Angler of the Year, and a great year overall.

Johnny Johnson 3rd Place

3rd place went to Pro Johnny Johnson with 5.21 lbs.

Johnny had a great year again by staying consistent and managed to take home the Angler of the Year award for the third year in a row.

Amateur Division

Nathun Korney 1st Am

Nathun Korney ends up in 1st place in the Amateur division with 6.61 pounds and 2nd Big fish, a 2.56 pound lunker. Nathun also took home the Angler of the Year award in the amateur division of the club.

2nd Place

>>2nd Place went to Jerry McAnnally with 5.10 pounds<<

(sorry, no picture)

3rd Place

3rd place went to Luke Riedhead with 4.48 pounds.
