Steve Lopez Wins His First Ever, And The Points Race Gets Red Hot!
Pro Angler Steve Lopez and Am. partner Walt Coplan secured Steve's first Top Ten win at Fool Hollow Lake, weighing 5 fish for 8.80 lbs., and knocking off the clubs two top points leaders in what might be the upset of the year. Steve came into the tournament at 7th place overall and has managed to keep 1st place Doug Coplan and 2nd place Johnny Johnson within a hair of each other in the race for Angler of the Year. Coplan and Johnson are seperated by just 5/100 of a pound , and both will be under tremendous pressure for the final tournament in regular season next month. This one's going to be as close as they come!
2nd place goes to Pro Johnny Johnson (right) and Am. Reese Simpson with 5 fish at 7.03 lbs.
3rd Place goes to Pro Doug Coplan and Am. Corky Donaldson with 1 fish at 6.30 lbs. This was also the Big Fish of the day, caught by Doug.
